Tips for Selling Your Home in the Spring

BHHS Blog 3.24.16

Spring is one of the best times to put your home on the market, but that means you’ll have more competition than in the winter.  Making your home stand out from the rest is a must and luckily for you, we have tips on how to do this:

  • Get Outside!  The winter can leave your yard looking drab.  Rake up any leftover leaves, throw out any rubbish and plant colorful flowers to give curb appeal a boost.  Powerwash the home’s exterior and include your porch, deck, patio and sidewalk.  Repair any broken or damaged outdoor furniture and replace or repair any broken screens.
  • Spring Clean!  Throw open the windows to let in some fresh air, clear out clutter and pack away knick-knacks, keep personal items sparse and clean, clean, clean!  Make your home sparkle!  (This includes your garage, shed and attic.  Making those spaces sparkle may not be doable, but organizing them is.)
  • Be Colorful!  Put away those heavy fleece blankets and that winter decor.  Bring out crisp linens, floral patterns and include some cheerful colors in your throw pillows.
  • Bring the Spring Aromas Inside!  Set out vases of freshly cut spring flowers, light clean smelling candles or use some citrus essential oils in a diffuser.  Homebuyers don’t want to linger in a home that doesn’t smell nice.

We always recommend discussing staging with your Realtor®.  They are a wealth of home buying and home selling information and will be able to guide you in how you start prepping your home to sell.
